About Us
History of the Coolum District Coast Care Group
The formation of this group came about after the December 1997 Coast Care Conference at Landsborough, held for environment groups in South-East Queensland. People from the Coolum area had a high representation at this conference and it was here that we all discovered a common objective for our area. It was decided that we should combine and co-ordinate our efforts at protecting the natural environment of Coolum/Yaroomba.
Stumers Creek to Black’s Gully Coastal Management Group was the initial name of the group and the first meeting was held in March 1998. The name of the group was changed to Coolum District Coast Care in May 1998 as word got around about the formation of the group. In March 2001 we became incorporated as Coolum District Coast Care Group Inc.
From 2000 to 2011 Coolum District Coast Care are working with State Government’s Department of Main Roads, the local shire council and other local community groups to form the Coolum Road Reserve Action Group (CRRAG).
CRRAG was formed to provide improved management of the remnant bushland on the high dunes in the Point Arkwright area.
Bi-monthly meetings are held normally at the picnic shelter at the 3rd Bay Parking Area.
Since its formation, a Management Action Plan (MAP) for the Site has been developed.
